Thomas Jefferson Fields was known to family and friends as Papa Fields.  He was a proud Cherokee and a proud American.  He lost his sight but that didn’t stop him.  I feel very blessed to have been given his poems and that I was able to publish them in his memory. I made no changes whatsoever to Papa’s words.  What you read is exactly what he wrote.  There are seventeen poems in ‘Words of Papa Fields’ and this is the first poem.

Thomas Jefferson Fields was my maternal grandfather, and I knew him as ‘Papa’.

‘A Blessing To Our American Forces’

God bless our Air Force
where ever it may be
God bless the navy
that rides the sea
God bless our Armies
and to our Marines
God bless all loyal Americans
where ever they may be

God bless our emblem
the American Eagle
that flies the land and the seas
God bless our flag
that waves for you and me
the star spangled banner
the red, white and blue
stands up and waves for God
love him, and it will wave for you
